The SCLC will host our annual Keeper of the Dream Awards Banquet to honor individuals who have continued the legacy of our founding president, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., who worked tirelessly to advance human and civil rights. This year’s event is significant in that it falls on the 50th anniversary of Dr. King’s 1968 assassination. Therefore, the banquet will also honor Dr. King’s ultimate sacrifice for equal justice and human rights through “A Golden Halo Commemoration fit for a King”.
The SCLC (Southern Christian Leadership Conference) is one of the nation’s most respected civil rights organizations since its inception in 1957. The SCLC has proudly provided fifty-five years of uninterrupted services to the Birmingham-Jefferson County community as well as the state of Alabama.
Alabama high school and college age individuals are being invited to hear directly from local and national leaders about how they can develop STREAM (Science, Technology, Reading and Writing, Engineering, Art and Math) skills that will equip them to impact the world.
This event is geared towards inspiring and educating the next generation of economic justice leaders and transformative innovators.
